Jamie Anderson

Chair, Legal & Regulatory Working Group
Canadian Capital Markets Association (CCMA)

Jamie Anderson is Chair of the CCMA Legal and Regulatory Working Group, tasked with identifying all legal and regulatory issues related to Canada’s move to a shortened securities settlement period (T+1).  He is concurrently General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of the Canadian Securities Exchange, overseeing all legal and corporate governance matters and advising on a broad scope of strategic, policy and regulatory issues. He also leads Anderson Consulting Corporation, a consultancy in areas including compliance, governance, and business process re-engineering whose clients include major Canadian banks, life insurers, and investment managers.

Previously, Jamie has held executive and senior-level roles at several of Canada’s largest and systemically important financial institutions, including The Canadian Depository for Securities Limited where he was most recently Chief Legal Officer. Jamie has championed many strategically important transactions and initiatives including large M&A deals, complex litigation, and default resolutions.  As well, he has sat on various industry committees including the Ontario Securities Commission Market Structure Advisory Committee and CDS’s Legal Drafting Group, Risk Advisory Committee, and Strategic Development Review Committee.

As the United States adopts a T+1 securities settlement period, Canada will need likewise to shift to maintain settlement alignment. Jamie looks forward to continuing to help coordinate the industry’s efforts to ensure Canada is ready for T+1.
